Research and Concept Development

Key Research Components

Our Challenge was to create a tangible exhibition about affordability that engaged a public audience during Toronto’s Design Week. We Considered the objective and intent that drove the exhibition and outlined what we wanted the audience to learn, see, do, or contribute, as well as what we wanted the audience to leave with.

Final Solution and Proposed Strategy

Perspectives on Affordability

The concept came together with an exhibition, publication, digital toolkit, and our special projects to show and connect the audience with the results of research around affordability.

Our components were our projects at different scales showing change can be made by anyone and it starts now, the quiz in the digital toolkit shows people the effects of the choices they make, and content from our research and publication in a visual format that interprets or reveals choices, lack of choices and false choices.

Final Exhibition

The Perspectives on Affordability exhibition showcased the outcomes of a nine-month research focused on affordability, presented through three key project pillars: brochures, booklets for distribution, and a comprehensive book. We efficiently designed, printed, and installed every aspect of the exhibition within a couple of days.

Final Digital Toolkit

Our challenge was to make a digital component to support the information and strategies that exist within our research.

This Digital Component is in the form of a quiz on the website, which will help to gain public awareness. We used it as a tool to supplement information and created an interaction with our narrative of Affordability within our publication. This is the central thematic we used in order to change perceptions of Affordability.
